This project is an
example of a loft conversion undertaken to form a new ensuite bedroom, in a two
bed bungalow. The first thing is to remove the existing internal wall between
the front room and the second bedroom. We now need to alter and remove existing electrical & plumbing installations, that are in the way of fitting the new joists. The new joists are much deeper to allow for the extra weight loading, and are packed off the existing wall plate on either side. This is to allow a gap between the new joists and the plaster board, so that no weight load can be transferred through and crack or damage the existing ceiling. The new flooring has been laid and plumbing and heating alterations have been carried out for the en-suite bathroom. The new staircase opening has also been trimmed and formed and the new staircase fitted. The loft conversion requires two Dormer windows to be constructed with vaulted ceilings. The loft has now been plastered and painted, and we have started to construct the fitted wardrobes. And finally the loft conversion completed |
